Health Insurance Plan Proposed For Small Businesses

Small Businesses would benefit from a new health insurance program which could reduce the premiums by as much as 22 percent. This so called Health Insurance Plan is awaiting debate among state lawmakers. This program is backed by state’s health insurers, as well as some small business advocates. This plan is opposed to doctors group and hospitals.

This is a solution to a complex problem which needs great attention. This would bridge the gap for small business coverage till a more comprehensive coverage takes place in the state. This bill would place a cap on the reimbursement rates for hospitals and doctors which would provide people to serve the role in the national debate over health care.

As of now, the median monthly premium for family coverage would be through a small business with an employer of 50 or more employees which is around $1,000. This bill would cap the reimbursement rates for all providers with no more than 110% for all covered services other than outpatient benefits. This would also prohibit providers from billing the patients in the excess of reimbursement amount which is established co-payments.

If such a bill is passed, this plan could take effect as early as next April when most businesses renew their coverage.
