Health Insurance Small Businesses Burden

As the health insurance premiums are going up by 28%, the owner of Bookshop Santa Cruz would be wondering as to how long she would be able to offer health benefits to employees.

Many Restaurants business expects to pay 14 percent more for health premiums which the owner can’t afford for the employees. All this business owners welcome health care reforms for as long as it lowers the costs.

The health care affordability is a very big problem, which would result in a survey of 700 California’s small business indicating the support of health care reform. Among such findings are the following:
  • 86% are those people who don’t offer health insurance, say they can’t afford it.
  • 86% believe that people should be able to buy health insurance without any regard to health problems.
  • Around 81% support for creating a new system which is a health insurance exchange, where small businesses could result in a comparison shop by choosing from competing plans.
This type of health insurance has helped with employee retention where some workers have been with Bookstore for 30 years but their costs are always on the rise. Every year one would see a double digit increase which would be around 10% two years ago.

As it is paying for more premiums, the cut backs on the company contribution would lead to employee health care and benefits. This is really as high as it would lead to more families affecting more and more.
