Working Parents Losing Out Health Insurance

Around 10,000 working parents would be losing health insurance due to state budget cuts making families looking out for affordable coverage. There is a special program taken up by Arizona Health Care System for low family incomes. This program faces a $3 million shortfall due to current budget crisis.

The state of Arizona is in fiscal crisis which is making difficult decisions across the board. The state program was a extension of federal State Children’s Health Insurance Program in Arizona. So to become eligible for coverage, the families would require to make less than 2 times the federal poverty level which would be about $44,000 a year for the family.

To administer for such a program for parents, Arizona received $18 million federal grants to administer for program of parents. If such a program ends the low income families would be affected very much as they would not be able to afford any other program.

There are programs run by state governments which provide basic care on sliding fee scale. But due to cuts even such programs have lost state funding making it more troublesome for people who attain them.

So to conclude one can say that such cuts would have a really devasting impact on low family income groups making them unemployed from health insurance.
